Hi I’m Kourtney — feel free to call me K. I’m a photographer, mama, and maker of things.
I’ve spent my photographic career capturing people — especially kids — in their most spontaneous, joy-filled, and telling moments. My work lives where play meets intention, creating images that feel honest, unscripted, and alive.
Working with children is at the heart of what I do. I build thoughtful, kid-centric sets with crews who balance professionalism and play, keeping the energy real and the magic flowing.
When I’m not on set, I’m with my family in the Chicago suburbs — or heading west to recharge and find new inspiration. And if I’m not doing that, I’m probably making or building something somewhere.
LIFE IN MOTION
Where concept meets real childhood energy
A book designed to pull kids off screens and back into unstructured outdoor play — turning everyday backyards into spaces of imagination and discovery.
Working from concepts by the author and art director, I brought each scene to life through movement, timing, and real kid energy — capturing moments as they unfolded. By staying responsive instead of over-directing, I focused on the in-between moments that make each setup feel honest and alive. The result is a cohesive visual story that balances creative direction with authentic, unscripted childhood.

Real people, real feeling
Shot on location in Chicago at the onset of COVID, this project featured real people within thoughtfully staged scenes — crafted to feel natural, grounded, and emotionally honest.
I focused on building trust and ease on set, guiding with a light touch so performances felt authentic, not performed — allowing subtle, in-between moments to emerge. The result is imagery that blurs the line between direction and reality — elevated, yet deeply human.

fall dreamin'
Soft light. Slow moments. Childhood, reimagined. This is a seasonal story rooted in warmth, texture, and quiet nostalgia that captures the feeling of fall through a child’s wonder.
Concepted and developed in collaboration, I helped shape a visual direction that prioritized emotion, natural connection, and presence over perfection. A gentle visual rhythm, directed with speed and precision—I balanced thoughtful styling with real, unscripted moments as they unfolded. The result is a timeless, emotionally grounded body of work that feels both elevated and real.
